Also an avid statistician, Peter created the Fastest Known Times website that was featured in Running Times Magazine. It tracks speed records for trails and routes around the world.

Peter is not one to brag but looking at his track record he has been there, done that. In his own words  “I don’t care about running.  I just love to do it.”Peter Bawkin

Anton Krupicka Bio

About Anton Krupicka:  Besides being a two time Leadville 100 champion Anton has created a name for himself around his trail style, (almost Forest Gump-esque hair) and minimalist attire. He often runs without a shirt and with very lightweight minimal running shoes. He ran his first marathon when he was twelve. During college and in his early 20s he often ran upwards of 200 miles a week. Krupicka is featured in the film Indulgence: 1000 Miles Under The Colorado Sky which chronicles his Summer 2007 training leading up to the Leadville Trail 100.

Anton KrupickaHe has won the Leadville 100 twice, the Miwok 100 the Rocky Raccoon 100 Miler the Collegiate Peaks 50 Miler, the White River 50 Miler twice (Set 2010 CR 6:25:29), the High Mountain 50k and the Estes Park Marathon.

Scott Jurek Bio

About Scott Jurek: Throughout Jurek’s career he has been one of the most dominant ultramarathon runners in the world, winning many of the sport’s most prestigious races multiple times, including the Hardrock Hundred (2007), the Badwater Ultramarathon (2005, 2006), the Spartathlon (2006, 2007, 2008), and the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run (1999-2005). In 2010, at the 24-Hour World Championships in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, Jurek won a silver medal and set a new US record for distance run in 24 hours with 165.7 miles.

Scott JurekJurek is an advocate of plant-based eating for health and ethical/environmental reasons, and he cites his diet as the key to his superior athletic performance and recovery. He gave up meat in 1997 and became vegan in 1999, motivated by the belief that poor nutrition was responsible for the chronic illnesses he saw in his family and in his physical therapy patients.

When Jurek was very young, his mother was diagnosed with Muscular Sclerosis. Her struggles taught him to persevere in difficult circumstances and he credits her memory as his major source of strength in the 24-hour race.

He is also known, however, for keeping a lighthearted attitude towards racing. He often screams loudly at the beginning of each race, rolls over finish lines, and sometimes launches into kung fu leaps into aid stations mid-race. After finishing races, he frequently remains at the finish line for hours to cheer for later finishers.

Jurek has said that, “though I want to win, the running is a vehicle for self-discovery.”He believes that ultrarunning is more difficult mentally than physically. His memoir, Eat and Run, is forthcoming from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in June 2012.
